Edward Woods Junior Youth, Community Centre
Mondays & Fridays 3.30pm to 6.15pm
1.5 hours per week for Administration
1. To provide an educational service, that provides challenging opportunities for children and young people based on the Every Child Matters framework.
2. To proactively contribute to the development, co-ordination and delivery of a high quality junior youth service for children and young people aged 8 to 13 years, ensuring that programmes are challenging and fun and relevant to the needs and interests of the young people.
3. To ensure that the provision is accessible and relevant to the target group regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, disability and/or social background.
4. To undertake all duties within and according to the authorities’ policies, rules and regulations, and in accordance with Management instructions.
DUTIES:
1. In conjunction with the Projects Manager, to be responsible for the co-ordination, development and delivery of high quality junior youth provision within assigned centres during term time
2. To encourage participation and involve the children and young people in the planning, delivery, evaluation and reporting of projects and programmes,
3. To ensure that the service is accessible to children and young people and is accessible to priority groups e.g. young people with disabilities and those from minority ethnic groups.
4. To provide a service for children and young people with specific needs. Including the implementation of individual plans and specific risk assessments.
5. To be responsible for the care, welfare, safety and supervision of children and young people attending the project.
6. To contribute to the effective development and delivery of programmes in line with the Junior Youth curriculum framework..
7. To work in conjunction with the Project Manger and to develop and facilitate effective transition arrangements for young people to access youth provision.
8. To ensure that the policies and procedures of the Council and the service are implemented locally, with particular reference to health and safety and Safeguarding of children..
9. To actively contribute to team meetings and support the Project Manager in ensuring that there is effective communication within the team on all matters related to the running of the service.
10. To contribute to the provision of a welcoming environment for children and young people, ensuring that the premises are prepared, and cleared , prior to and at the end of each session.
11. To contribute to the routine administration of premises, budget monitoring, membership systems and the appropriate recording of financial and other transactions. To be accountable to the Project Manager and to contribute to the preparation of reports, statistics and other information as required.
12. To be responsible for the purchasing and maintenance of equipment, resources and supplies, within the budget constraints, as required.
13. To participate in service training and undertake training relevant to the post, identified through line management and supervision.
14. To work flexibly across the Service, in order to deliver outreach and project based programmes.
15. To be responsible for the day to day management of a team of part-time staff and to liaise with other workers and partner agencies.
