Senior Housing Advisor

South Gloucestershire

To deliver a professional, impartial, pragmatic and outcome focussed housing, welfare benefits and debt advice service to clients.
Housing Advice - homelessness and housing, tenancy, domestic violence, asylum & immigration, relationship breakdown, dampness & disrepair, illegal eviction. Where necessary, mediate between tenant and landlord to resolve any dispute
Welfare Benefits Advice – advice on welfare & housing benefits, income maximisation, compiling statement of income and essential outgoings, advice on challenging decisions and appeals, tribunals and commissioners hearings;
Debt Advice – Advice on Governments Mortgage Rescue Scheme, Preparation of financial statements, debtprioritisation, preparation of repayment plans, negotiation with creditore, County court enforcement action, insolvency.
Ensure team and individuals are aware of critical results and key business objectives and changes through effective communication with the team.
Lead the team by example and inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence in team and individual performance through delegation of responsibility and clear lines of accountability.
Produce Monthly KPI statistics and analysis report for discussion with line manager and team.
Review performance against objectives and results to ensure continual improvement in each area.
Lead and develop a team to deliver against the critical results through a sound knowledge of internal processes and procedures. Manage a diverse case load requiring investigation, advocacy, intervention, decision making and client representation. This will include:
Conducting initial client interviews and detailed diagnostic interviews at designated surgery sites and over the telephone
Agreeing client’s needs and identifying desired outcomes/actions (within contractual framework)
Generating letters confirming advice/support
Writing and implementing case plans
Ensuring case details are entered into IT monitoring systems in a timely manner
Use understanding of complex legal requirements to advise customers. Make referrals to solicitor at earliest point in case where clearly certificated work. Support solicitors on certificated work as required.
Provide general level of advocacy on behalf of client to other agencies/authorities. Prepare for more complex advocacy including court.
Initial contact/referral with other agencies (including internal debt and welfare specialists) where there are multiple issues and cases
