Essential requirements:
Experience as an Executive Assistant at Director Level


To provide planning, coordination, communications, projects and other executive support to chief officers, whilst leading a team of Executive Assistants.
Ensure that there are effective communications across the Directorate, in liaison with internal communications on cross Directorate issues, and ensure integration with Council-wide and service-specific communication plans.
Proactively use cross-portfolio and service knowledge to ensure operational managers are aware of relevant crosscutting issues and the ‘corporate dimension’ of policy decisions in their service areas.
To manage the effective running of the directorate support office ensuring that callers and visitors
Seek opportunities, in liaison with internal communications to communicate positively the Directorate’s and local authority’s achievements.
Draft speeches, presentations and correspondence on behalf of chief officers, often involving highly complex and sensitive content.
Lead and co-ordinate the delivery of cross-Directorate projects as appropriate supporting the head of business management services.
The post holder will be required to use their initiative to complete tasks, and to demonstrate a high level of proactive support, by thinking ahead and seeing links in the work carried out.

The post holder will be required to liaise with various teams and services across Housing & Adult Social Care. Key contacts are likely to include:
The Director and Assistant Directors
Residents, local business people, voluntary/statutory organisations and other external agencies
Officers in other local authorities, London-wide bodies and central government departments
Elected Members
External providers of goods and services
These relationships may involve issues that are contentious and complex and where the potential outcome is likely to require considerable discretion
The post holder will be expected to make decisions with only limited guidance from the chief officer and, as such, may have a significant effect on internal or external customers.
