Regulatory body in the medical sector requires a Policy Officer to provide support to the Policy and Planning Team in relation to the maintenance and development of fitness to practise policy and to provide support to working groups on fitness to practise issues.

Responsibilities include:
 
Developing a basic working knowledge of fitness to practise policy and the work of the directorate and to assist the Policy and Planning Mangers and the Assistant Director in the provision of advice and support to the Senior Management Team in respect of policy development and operational monitoring.
Contributing to the development of new policy through the provision of background information and statistical data under supervision, as required.
Assisting with the preparation of policy papers and the drafting of other related documentation.
Liaising with a variety of internal colleagues and external bodies in relation to policy issues.
Attending a variety of internal and occasional external meetings, working groups and conferences as required.
 
Key skills:
 
Experience of providing administrative support within a policy development environment.
The ability to arrange meeting schedules including the booking of meeting venues, catering and IT support is essential.
Excellent IT skills are required as the post holder will work via the organisation’s Siebel-based information management system and will need to work to a high standard with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
The ability to draft accurate and concise documents using Plain English and in accordance with in-house style guidance is important as is the ability to work collaboratively with others in the joint development of written materials.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively with the other team members and to adopt a position of shared responsibility for the team’s work and objectives is very important.
 
The position is expected to last for approximately 3 months
