A leading Housing Association is currently looking for a Housing Improvement Officer for at least 4 months. Key responsibilities are as follows Develop consultation and involvement initiatives in line with the tenant involvement and empowerment standard and best practice including the development of policies and procedures to support RI Work on developing innovative and diverse methods to maximise consultation, participation, scrutiny and challenge and encourage the diverse representation of residents, for example residents who are hard to reach, who are from a BME background or who have a disability Establish residents’ training needs and devise, and when necessary, deliver a varied training and capacity building programme to enable residents to be involved in decision making, scrutiny and challenge Ensure that residents are actively recruited to company involvement and scrutiny initiatives through ongoing promotion and liaison with staff to encourage them to identify interested residents Assist in overseeing the Local Scrutiny Panels and other scrutiny initiatives that may develop to ensure they continue to be effective and residents are supported to participate, scrutinise and challenge Provide training and support to residents wishing to form a residents’ association ensuring they are enabled to work with front line staff once set up and constituted. Work with the Co-regulation assistant to log and monitor involvement and scrutiny activities and assess impact of such activities at least annually. Develop service panels in liaison with the relevant businesses so as to enable a successful hand over of such panels to be managed by the businesses themselves, with minimal ongoing intervention required from co-regulation officers Support residents involved in service panels through training and annual evaluation of the impact and success of such panels Keep abreast of good practice and innovation in the field of resident co- regulation and scrutiny and utilise this knowledge to develop the company approach. Assist and support operational businesses to work with resident scrutiny and co-regulation mechanisms and initiatives in a positive way producing tangible outcomes as a result Undertake the coordination and servicing of meetings, events and trainings sessions, including associated administrative tasks. Work with colleagues within the Business Assurance Directorate to develop an annual delivery plan and then deliver the key objectives throughout the year Liaise, as appropriate, with other departments of the organisation for example assisting the New Business and Development team to complete bids for new housing developments Liaise and maintain relationships with relevant external organisations and Partnerships with a view to promoting the company as a good practice landlord and to maximising training opportunities to minimise costs Essential Skills Experience and knowledge of the affordable housing sector and the regulatory environment in which it operates Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; experience of preparing and delivering reports to Manager level. Excellent IT skills including, including Microsoft Office (Excel to intermediate level) and experience of working with other reporting and data systems. Must be immediately available or on short notice
